Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 4 units garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 unit large lemon, juiced and zested
  • 0.25 cup dry white wine
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 0.5 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
  • 1 loaf crusty bread for serving (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels and season them with salt and black pepper.

Step 2

In a large skillet, melt 4 tablespoons of butter and 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.

Step 3

Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, until fragrant but not browned.

Step 4

Add the shrimp to the skillet, cooking for about 2-3 minutes per side until they turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp and set aside on a plate.

Step 5

Deglaze the skillet by adding the white wine, stirring to scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Let it simmer for 1-2 minutes to reduce slightly.

Step 6

Add the remaining 4 tablespoons of butter, lemon juice, lemon zest, and red pepper flakes to the skillet. Stir until the butter is fully melted and the sauce is well combined.

Step 7

Return the shrimp to the skillet, tossing them gently to coat in the sauce. Cook for another 1-2 minutes to heat through.

Step 8

Remove the skillet from heat and sprinkle with fresh parsley.

Step 9

Serve immediately with crusty bread for dipping into the buttery sauce, or over rice or pasta if desired.
