Ingredients

  • 1 pound Large shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 6 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 4 cloves Garlic cloves (minced)
  • 0.5 cup Dry white wine
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh lemon juice
  • 0.25 cup Heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh thyme (minced)
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Freshly ground black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon Red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon zest (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Rinse and pat dry the shrimp with paper towels. Season them lightly with salt and pepper, then set aside.

Step 2

In a large skillet, melt 3 tablespoons of butter over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil to prevent the butter from burning.

Step 3

Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 1 minute, or until fragrant.

Step 4

Increase the heat to medium-high and add the shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on one side until they start to turn pink, then flip and cook for an additional 2 minutes. Remove shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

Step 5

Lower the heat to medium and add the remaining 3 tablespoons of butter, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, and the white wine to the skillet. Use a wooden spoon to scrape up any brown bits from the bottom of the pan (this adds flavor). Let the mixture reduce slightly, simmering for 2-3 minutes.

Step 6

Stir in the lemon juice, heavy cream, fresh thyme, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Allow the sauce to cook and thicken for an additional 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 7

Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet, tossing them in the sauce to coat evenly. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the shrimp are heated through and well combined with the sauce.

Step 8

Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the chopped parsley. If desired, sprinkle lemon zest over the dish for a bright, zesty finish.

Step 9

Serve immediately as-is, or over cooked pasta, rice, or crusty bread. Enjoy your decadent Shrimp Delaney!
