Ingredients

  • 12 ounces penne pasta
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • 3 fourth cups grated Parmesan cheese
  • 0.5 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 0.5 teaspoons salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoons red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Directions

Step 1

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the penne pasta according to the package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving 1/2 cup of the pasta water.

Step 2

While the pasta is cooking, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until they turn pink and are cooked through. Remove the shrimp from the pan and set aside.

In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and the butter. Once the butter has melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute, being careful not to let it burn.
