Ingredients

  • 3 pounds Beef chuck roast
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1.5 cups Barbecue sauce
  • 1 cup Beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Yellow mustard

Directions

Step 1

Season the beef chuck roast evenly on all sides with salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.

Step 2

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil. Once hot, sear the beef on all sides until deeply browned, about 2-3 minutes per side.

Step 3

Transfer the seared beef to a slow cooker.

Step 4

In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together barbecue sauce, beef broth, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and yellow mustard.

Step 5

Pour the barbecue sauce mixture over the beef in the slow cooker, ensuring the meat is mostly submerged.

Step 6

Cover the slow cooker with the lid, set it to low heat, and cook for 8 hours until the beef is tender and easy to shred with a fork.

Step 7

Once cooked, remove the beef from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded beef to the slow cooker and mix it with the sauce.

Step 8

Serve the shredded barbecued beef warm on sandwich buns, in tacos, or over a bed of rice or mashed potatoes. Enjoy!
