Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 0.5 lb Ground pork
  • 0.5 cup Panko breadcrumbs
  • 0.25 cup Milk
  • 1 large Egg
  • 0.5 cup Yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp Fresh parsley, chopped
  • 0.25 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 0.25 tsp Ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp Ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil (for greasing)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly grease it with olive oil.

Step 2

In a small bowl, combine the panko breadcrumbs and milk. Let the mixture sit for 2-3 minutes until the breadcrumbs absorb the milk and soften.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, soaked breadcrumbs, egg, chopped onion, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and grated Parmesan cheese.

Step 4

Add the ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, salt, and black pepper to the meat mixture. Mix everything thoroughly with your hands or a spatula until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the meatballs tender.

Step 5

Using clean hands, scoop about 1 1/2 tablespoons of the mixture and roll it into a ball. Repeat until the mixture is used up, placing the meatballs evenly spaced on the prepared baking sheet.

Step 6

Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and have a golden brown crust.

Step 7

Remove the meatballs from the oven and let them rest for 5 minutes. Serve warm with your favorite marinara sauce, pasta, or as a standalone appetizer.
