Ingredients

  • 1 packet Active dry yeast
  • 0.25 cups Warm water
  • 1 cups Cottage cheese
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Dried dill weed
  • 2 teaspoons Minced onion
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons Baking soda
  • 1 large Egg
  • 2.25 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoons Butter

Directions

Step 1

In a small bowl, dissolve the active dry yeast in warm water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.

Step 2

In a larger bowl, combine the cottage cheese, sugar, dill weed, minced onion, salt, and baking soda. Mix well.

Step 3

Add the egg to the cottage cheese mixture and stir thoroughly until the mixture is well combined.

Step 4

Stir in the yeast mixture.

Step 5

Gradually add the all-purpose flour to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.

Step 6

Knead the dough lightly on a floured surface for about 3-5 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic.

Step 7

Grease a round baking dish or 8-9 inch cake pan with butter, and place the dough in the center. Cover the pan with a clean kitchen towel and let the dough rise in a warm place for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.

Step 8

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 9

Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped.

Step 10

Remove the bread from the oven and brush the top with a little melted butter while it is still warm to give it a soft and glossy finish.

Step 11

Allow the bread to cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
