Ingredients

  • 2 pieces puff pastry sheets
  • 500 grams ground pork sausage
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely diced
  • 2 pieces garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 stalks green onion, finely chopped
  • 50 grams breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1.5 tablespoons curry powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 0.5 teaspoons ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 200°C (180°C fan) or 400°F. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the diced onion and cook for 4-5 minutes until softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 additional minute. Set aside to cool slightly.

Step 3

In a large bowl, combine the ground pork sausage, cooled onion and garlic mixture, green onions, breadcrumbs, curry powder, ground cumin, ground coriander, salt, and black pepper. Mix well with clean hands or a wooden spoon until evenly combined.

Step 4

Lightly flour your work surface and roll out the puff pastry sheets if needed to ensure they are smooth and even.

Step 5

Cut each puff pastry sheet in half lengthwise to create 4 long strips in total.

Step 6

Divide the sausage filling into 4 equal portions. Shape each portion into a long, even log and place it along the center of each pastry strip.

Step 7

Brush one long edge of the pastry with the beaten egg to help seal the roll. Fold the pastry over the sausage filling, pressing down gently to seal the edge. Make sure the seam is on the bottom.

Step 8

Cut each log into 4 pieces for smaller rolls or 3 pieces for larger rolls and transfer to the lined baking tray, seam-side down.

Step 9

Brush the tops of the rolls with the remaining beaten egg, then lightly brush with milk for an extra golden crust.

Step 10

Using a sharp knife, make a small slit or two on top of each roll to allow steam to escape.

Step 11

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed and the sausage filling is fully cooked through.

Step 12

Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving. Serve warm or at room temperature with your preferred dipping sauce.
