Ingredients

  • 3 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Rolled oats
  • 0.25 cup Sesame seeds
  • 0.5 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2.25 teaspoons Instant yeast
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 3 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 1 Egg
  • 1.5 teaspoons Ground cinnamon
  • 0.3 cup Brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons Butter (for brushing, melted)
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, rolled oats, sesame seeds, granulated sugar, salt, and instant yeast.

Step 2

In a microwave or a saucepan, heat the milk and unsalted butter until the butter just melts. Let the mixture cool until lukewarm.

Step 3

Whisk the egg and vanilla extract into the lukewarm liquid mixture.

Step 4

Gradually add the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, mixing until a rough dough forms.

Step 5

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 8-10 minutes, or until smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer with a dough hook for approximately 6-7 minutes.

Step 6

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with plastic wrap or a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until it doubles in size.

Step 7

In a small bowl, mix the ground cinnamon and brown sugar together to make the cinnamon swirl filling.

Step 8

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle about 9x12 inches.

Step 9

Brush the surface of the dough with melted butter and evenly sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the top, leaving a 1-inch border on one long edge.

Step 10

Starting from the long edge opposite the border, tightly roll the dough into a log, sealing the seam by pinching it closed.

Step 11

Place the rolled dough seam-side down into a greased 9x5-inch loaf pan. Cover the pan with a towel and let the dough rise again for 30-45 minutes, until it puffs up slightly.

Step 12

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 13

Before baking, brush the top of the loaf with melted butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds for garnish.

Step 14

Bake the loaf in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the loaf sounds hollow when tapped.

Step 15

Remove the loaf from the pan and let it cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.

Step 16

Enjoy your Sesame Oat Cinnamon Swirl Loaf on its own, toasted, or with a spread of butter!
