Ingredients

  • 500 grams Broccoli
  • 3 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 2 tablespoons Sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon Rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame seeds
  • 2 stalks Green onion
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons Black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Wash and cut the broccoli into bite-sized florets, trimming the stems as necessary.

Step 2

Blanch the broccoli florets in boiling water for 1-2 minutes until they turn bright green. Immediately transfer them to an ice bath to stop the cooking process and retain their color and crunch.

Step 3

In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, and rice vinegar until well combined.

Step 4

Mince the garlic cloves finely and add them to the marinade mixture.

Step 5

Toast the sesame seeds in a dry skillet over medium heat until they are golden and fragrant, about 2-3 minutes. Set aside to cool.

Step 6

Thinly slice the green onions and set aside for garnish.

Step 7

Drain the broccoli florets from the ice bath and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towel.

Step 8

Transfer the broccoli to a large mixing bowl and pour the marinade over them. Toss gently to ensure the broccoli is evenly coated.

Step 9

Let the broccoli marinate for at least 10 minutes at room temperature, or cover and refrigerate for up to 2 hours for more intense flavor.

Step 10

Before serving, sprinkle the toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions over the marinated broccoli.

Step 11

Season with salt and black pepper to taste, and serve as a side dish or light appetizer.
