Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Fish fillets (such as mahi-mahi, cod, or halibut)
  • 0.25 cup White sesame seeds
  • 0.25 cup Black sesame seeds
  • 0.25 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 large Egg
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh ginger (grated)
  • 1 teaspoon Honey
  • 1 tablespoon Lime juice
  • 2 pieces Green onions (thinly sliced)
  • 0 Cooked rice or steamed vegetables (optional, for serving)

Directions

Step 1

Pat the fish fillets dry with a paper towel. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.

Step 2

Set up a breading station: place the flour in a shallow dish, beat the egg in a second dish, and mix the white and black sesame seeds in a third dish.

Step 3

Dredge each fish fillet in the flour, shaking off the excess. Dip the fillet in the beaten egg, then press it into the sesame seed mixture to coat both sides evenly.

Step 4

Heat the vegetable oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is shimmering, add the fish fillets. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side or until the crust is golden brown and the fish is cooked through. Remove the fish and set aside on a plate lined with paper towels.

Step 5

In the same skillet, reduce the heat to low and add the butter. Once melted, stir in the soy sauce, grated ginger, honey, and lime juice. Cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring, until the sauce is well combined and fragrant. Remove from heat.

Step 6

Plate the fish fillets and drizzle the soy butter and ginger sauce over the top. Garnish with sliced green onions.

Step 7

Serve immediately with cooked rice or steamed vegetables if desired.
