Ingredients

  • 400 grams Canned chickpeas (drained and rinsed)
  • 2 pieces Garlic cloves
  • 0.5 medium Onion (finely chopped)
  • 3 tablespoons Fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Ground coriander
  • 0.5 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons All-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 4 tablespoons Sesame seeds
  • 3 tablespoons Olive oil

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, add the drained chickpeas. Use a fork or potato masher to roughly mash them, leaving some chunks for texture.

Step 2

Add the chopped garlic, onion, parsley, ground cumin, ground coriander, smoked paprika, lemon juice, flour, salt, and black pepper to the bowl. Mix well until the mixture comes together into a thick, moldable paste.

Step 3

Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about 1/2-inch thick.

Step 4

Spread the sesame seeds on a plate. Gently press each patty into the sesame seeds to coat both sides evenly.

Step 5

Heat the olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties in batches (do not overcrowd the pan).
