Ingredients

  • 450 grams Cremini mushrooms (or button mushrooms)
  • 3 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 3 cloves Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh thyme leaves
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper, freshly ground
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh lemon juice

Directions

Step 1

Clean the mushrooms by gently wiping them with a damp paper towel. Trim the stems if necessary and slice the mushrooms thinly (about 5 mm thick).

Step 2

Heat a large skillet over medium heat, then add the olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter. Allow the butter to melt and become bubbly.

Step 3

Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet in a single layer. Avoid overcrowding to ensure even cooking. Cook the mushrooms undisturbed for 4-5 minutes until they release their moisture and begin to brown.

Step 4

Gently stir the mushrooms and cook for another 4-5 minutes, ensuring they are evenly browned.

Step 5

Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for 1 minute, stirring frequently to prevent burning.

Step 6

Stir in the fresh thyme leaves, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Step 7

Reduce the heat to low, then stir in the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter for added richness.

Step 8

Finish with a splash of fresh lemon juice to brighten the dish. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.

Step 9

Remove from heat and garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.

Step 10

Serve warm as a side dish, or use as a topping for steaks, chicken, pasta, or rice.
