Ingredients

  • 100 grams Vermicelli
  • 2 tablespoons Ghee
  • 1 litre Milk
  • 150 grams Sugar
  • 10 pieces Cashew nuts
  • 10 pieces Raisins
  • 0.5 teaspoons Cardamom powder
  • 1 pinch Saffron strands
  • 250 milliliters Water
  • 10 pieces Almonds (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Heat 1 tablespoon of ghee in a pan over medium heat.

Step 2

Add the cashew nuts and fry until golden brown. Remove them and set aside.

Step 3

In the same pan, fry the raisins in the ghee until they puff up. Remove and set aside with the cashew nuts.

Step 4

Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of ghee to the same pan.

Step 5

Add the vermicelli and roast on a low flame for about 5-7 minutes until they turn golden brown, stirring continuously to avoid burning.

Step 6

In a separate pot, bring the water to a boil.

Step 7

Add the roasted vermicelli to the boiling water and cook until they are soft, about 5-7 minutes.

Step 8

Once the vermicelli is cooked, pour in the milk and bring it to a boil while stirring occasionally.

Step 9

Reduce the heat to medium-low and let the mixture simmer until the milk thickens slightly, about 10-12 minutes.

Step 10

Add sugar and stir well to dissolve completely.

Step 11

Add cardamom powder and saffron strands, stirring well to mix.

Step 12

Cook for another 2-3 minutes to let the flavors blend.

Step 13

Turn off the heat and add the fried cashew nuts and raisins.
