Ingredients

  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 0.33 cup Cocoa powder
  • 0.5 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 cup Milk
  • 3 tablespoons Unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 0.75 cup Packed light brown sugar
  • 1.5 cups Boiling water
  • 0.5 cup Chocolate chips (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Lightly grease the inside of your slow cooker or spray with non-stick cooking spray.

Step 2

In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Step 3

Pour in the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Stir until a smooth batter forms.

Step 4

Spread the batter evenly into the bottom of the prepared slow cooker.

Step 5

Sprinkle the packed light brown sugar evenly over the batter.

Step 6

Carefully pour the boiling water over the top of the batter and brown sugar. Do not stir.

Step 7

If desired, evenly sprinkle chocolate chips over the top of the water.

Step 8

Place the lid on the slow cooker and cook on HIGH for 1 hour and 45 minutes to 2 hours, or until the top layer of the pudding is set and firm to the touch.

Step 9

Once cooked, turn off the slow cooker and let the pudding sit for about 5-10 minutes to allow the sauce to thicken slightly.

Step 10

Serve warm, spooning out the pudding and sauce. Optionally, garnish with whipped cream, powdered sugar, or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
