Ingredients

  • 4 sheets Seaweed sheets
  • 12 Spring roll wrappers
  • 1 large Carrot
  • 1 medium Cucumber
  • 200 grams Firm tofu
  • 1 cup Bean sprouts
  • 3 tablespoons Hoisin sauce
  • 1 cup Crushed peanuts
  • 3 cloves Garlic
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt

Directions

Step 1

Julienne the carrot and cucumber into thin strips and set aside.

Step 2

Cut the tofu into thin slices and pat dry with a paper towel.

Step 3

Mince the garlic cloves.

Step 4

In a skillet over medium heat, add vegetable oil and sesame oil.

Step 5

Once hot, add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.

Step 6

Add sliced tofu and stir-fry for 5-6 minutes until the tofu is golden brown on all sides.

Step 7

Add soy sauce and cook for another minute, stirring well to coat the tofu. Remove tofu from the skillet and set aside.

Step 8

Prepare a clean, flat surface to start assembling the popiah.

Place a spring roll wrapper on the surface, then lay a seaweed sheet on top.

Spread a thin layer of hoisin sauce over the seaweed.

Place a small amount of carrot, cucumber, bean sprouts, and tofu onto the lower third of the wrapper.

Sprinkle a handful of crushed peanuts over the filling ingredients.

Fold the bottom of the wrapper over the filling, then fold in the sides and roll tightly until sealed.

Repeat the filling and rolling process with the remaining wrappers and ingredients.

Cut each roll into halves or thirds to serve as desired.
