Ingredients

  • 1 pound Pizza dough
  • 2 cups Cooked chicken breast (shredded)
  • 2 cups Mozzarella cheese (shredded)
  • 1 cup Marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 tablespoon Water
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon All-purpose flour (for dusting)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with olive oil.

Step 2

Dust your work surface with flour and roll out the pizza dough into a large circle, about 1/4 inch thick. Cut the dough into 4 equal sections to create individual calzones.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken, mozzarella cheese, marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until the ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Step 4

Spoon an even amount of the chicken mixture onto one side of each dough section, leaving about a 1/2-inch border around the edges.

Step 5

Fold the empty half of the dough over the filling, creating a half-circle shape. Press the edges firmly together to seal, then crimp the edges with a fork for extra security.

Step 6

In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water to create an egg wash. Brush the top of each calzone with the egg wash to give them a golden, glossy finish.

Step 7

Use a sharp knife to carefully cut 2-3 small vents on the top of each calzone to allow steam to escape during baking.

Step 8

Transfer the calzones to the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.

Step 9

Allow the calzones to cool for 5 minutes before serving. Serve warm with extra marinara sauce on the side for dipping, if desired.
