Ingredients

  • 2 pieces (6 oz each) Yellowfin tuna steaks
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Lime juice
  • 1 clove (minced) Garlic
  • 1 teaspoon (grated) Ginger
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil

Directions

Step 1

Pat the yellowfin tuna steaks dry using paper towels to remove excess moisture.

Step 2

In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, soy sauce, lime juice, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Brush the mixture evenly over both sides of the tuna steaks.

Step 3

Sprinkle both sides of the tuna steaks with salt, black pepper, and sesame seeds, pressing gently to help the sesame seeds adhere.

Step 4

Heat a heavy skillet or cast-iron pan over high heat. Add the vegetable oil and allow it to get hot until shimmering.

Step 5

Carefully place the tuna steaks in the hot pan. Sear for about 1-2 minutes on the first side without moving them, allowing a golden crust to form.

Step 6

Flip the tuna steaks and sear the second side for another 1-2 minutes, depending on your desired level of doneness. For rare tuna, the center should remain pink.

Step 7

Remove the tuna steaks from the pan and let them rest for 2 minutes before slicing.

Step 8

Serve the seared tuna slices as-is or alongside a salad, rice, or vegetables for a complete meal.
