Ingredients

  • 12 pieces fresh sea scallops
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 0.5 cup orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon fresh parsley

Directions

Step 1

Pat the scallops dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Season both sides with salt and pepper.

Step 2

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil and let it get hot.

Step 3

Carefully place the scallops in the skillet, making sure they are not touching. Sear for 2-3 minutes without moving them until a golden crust forms.

Step 4

Flip the scallops and add 1 tablespoon of butter to the pan. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until just opaque in the center. Remove the scallops from the skillet and set aside.

Step 5

Lower the heat to medium and add the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter to the skillet. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
