Ingredients

  • 250 g all-purpose flour

  • 100 g Scottish cheddar cheese, grated

  • 120 ml whole milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 15 g extra cheddar cheese, grated (for topping)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper.

Add the chilled unsalted butter to the bowl. Use your fingertips to rub the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles fine breadcrumbs.

Stir in the grated Scottish cheddar cheese and finely chopped spring onions, ensuring they are evenly distributed.
