Ingredients

  • 4 pounds Baby back pork ribs
  • 0.5 cups Brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 0.25 teaspoons Cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 cups Whiskey
  • 1 cup Ketchup
  • 0.25 cups Apple cider vinegar
  • 0.25 cups Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.25 cups Honey
  • 2 tablespoons Minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Hot pepper sauce (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).

Step 2

In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, paprika, black pepper, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, and salt.

Step 3

Remove the thin membrane from the back of the ribs for tender results. Rub the spice mixture generously over both sides of the ribs.

Step 4

Wrap the ribs tightly in aluminum foil, making sure no steam can escape. Place them on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 2.5–3 hours, until the meat is tender but not falling apart.

Step 5

While the ribs are baking, prepare the whiskey barbecue sauce. In a medium saucepan, whisk together whiskey, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, honey, minced garlic, and hot pepper sauce (if using). Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 20–25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.

Step 6

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F or 200°C). Lightly oil the grill grates.

Step 7

Remove the ribs from the oven and carefully unwrap them. Brush a generous amount of the whiskey barbecue sauce over both sides of the ribs.

Step 8

Place the ribs on the grill, bone-side down first. Grill for 10–15 minutes, flipping and basting with the sauce every few minutes, until the ribs are caramelized and slightly charred.

Step 9

Remove from the grill and let rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing into individual servings.

Step 10

Serve with extra whiskey barbecue sauce on the side and enjoy!
