Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground beef
  • 0.5 pound Ground pork
  • 0.75 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 large Egg
  • 0.25 cup Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 24 ounces Tomato sauce

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, minced garlic, parsley, egg, milk, salt, and black pepper.

Step 2

Use your hands to mix all the ingredients together until well combined, but do not overmix to keep the meatballs tender.

Step 3

Roll the meat mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter. You should end up with approximately 16-18 meatballs.

Step 4

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the meatballs in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.

Step 5

Brown the meatballs on all sides, turning occasionally, about 5-7 minutes. They do not need to be fully cooked at this stage.

Step 6

Remove the browned meatballs and set them aside on a plate. Repeat with the remaining meatballs if necessary.

Step 7

In the same skillet, add the tomato sauce and bring it to a simmer over low heat. Add the meatballs back into the skillet, nestling them into the sauce.

Step 8

Cover and simmer the meatballs in the sauce for 20 minutes, occasionally stirring gently to ensure even cooking.

Step 9

Serve the meatballs hot over your favorite pasta, in a sub roll, or alongside crusty bread for dipping. Garnish with additional Parmesan and fresh parsley, if desired.
