Ingredients

  • 2 sheets puff pastry sheets
  • 200 grams ham, finely chopped
  • 150 grams Gruyère cheese, grated
  • 100 grams cream cheese
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a mixing bowl, combine the finely chopped ham, grated Gruyère cheese, cream cheese, and finely chopped onion. Mix well.

Step 3

Add the chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper to the mixture and stir until all ingredients are well incorporated.

Step 4

Unroll the puff pastry sheets and cut each sheet into four equal triangles. You will have a total of 8 triangles.

Step 5

Place a tablespoon of the ham and cheese mixture near the base of each triangle.

Step 6

Carefully roll the pastry starting from the base towards the tip to form a crescent shape, encasing the filling inside.

Step 7

In a small bowl, beat the egg yolk with one tablespoon of milk to create an egg wash.

Step 8

Brush each schinkengipfel with the egg wash to give it a golden glaze during baking.

Step 9

Place the schinkengipfel on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them evenly.

Step 10

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the pastries are golden brown and puffed.

Step 11

Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly on a wire rack before serving warm.
