Ingredients

  • 1 lb large shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 cup dry white wine
  • 0.25 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 0.5 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 1 tbsp fresh basil (chopped)
  • 12 oz spaghetti or linguine
  • 1 tsp lemon zest (for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Cook the spaghetti or linguine according to the package instructions in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta cooking water, then drain and set aside.

Step 2

While the pasta cooks, heat the olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat.

Step 3

Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.

Step 4

Stir in the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and are just cooked through. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

Step 5

Deglaze the skillet with the white wine, scraping any browned bits from the bottom of the pan with a wooden spoon.

Step 6

Reduce the heat to medium-low and add the remaining butter, lemon juice, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Stir until the butter is fully melted and the sauce is well combined.

Step 7

Return the shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the shrimp is warmed through.

Step 8

Add the cooked pasta to the skillet along with a splash of the reserved pasta water. Toss everything together to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.

Step 9

Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the chopped parsley and basil for a fresh herby flavor.

Step 10

Plate the dish and garnish with a sprinkle of lemon zest for a bright, citrusy finish.

Step 11

Serve immediately with crusty bread on the side to soak up the sauce, if desired.
