Ingredients

  • 250 grams Ricotta cheese
  • 50 grams Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh chives, chopped
  • 0.5 teaspoons Garlic powder
  • 0.25 teaspoons Chili flakes
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons Black pepper
  • 2 sheets Puff pastry sheets
  • 1 unit Egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame seeds (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, chopped chives, garlic powder, chili flakes, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until smooth and evenly combined.

Step 3

Unroll the puff pastry sheets on a clean, flat surface. If needed, lightly roll them out with a rolling pin to ensure even thickness.

Step 4

Spread an even layer of the ricotta mixture over one puff pastry sheet, leaving a 1.5 cm (½ inch) border around the edges.

Step 5

Place the second puff pastry sheet on top of the ricotta mixture, aligning the edges carefully. Gently press down to seal the layers together.

Step 6

Using a sharp knife or a pizza cutter, cut the layered pastry into small squares or rectangles, approximately 4 cm (1.5 inches) wide.

Step 7

Transfer the cut pieces to the prepared baking tray, spacing them out slightly to allow for expansion during baking.

Step 8

Brush the tops of the pastry pieces with the beaten egg for a golden, glossy finish. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top if desired.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.

Step 10

Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. These snacks are best enjoyed warm or at room temperature.
