Ingredients

  • 6 medium ripe tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 large garlic cloves
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.25 cup, chopped fresh basil

Directions

Step 1

Start by washing the tomatoes thoroughly under cold running water. Pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel.

Chop the tomatoes into small chunks and set them aside.

Peel and finely chop the garlic cloves. Also, finely chop the onion.

Step 4

In a large saucepan over medium heat, add the olive oil. Once hot, add the onions and garlic. Sauté for about 5 minutes, or until the onions are soft and translucent.

Add the chopped tomatoes to the pan and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes start to break down.
