Ingredients

  • 4 cups dry bread cubes
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely diced
  • 2 large celery stalks, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic cloves, minced
  • 1.25 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 0.5 teaspoons dried rosemary
  • 0.75 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 units large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or nonstick cooking spray (for greasing)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet with olive oil or nonstick cooking spray, or line it with parchment paper.

Step 2

Place the dry bread cubes in a large mixing bowl and set aside.

Step 3

In a large skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Add the finely diced onion and celery, cooking for 3-4 minutes until softened. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

Step 4

Pour the cooked vegetable mixture over the bread cubes. Add the chopped parsley, dried sage, dried thyme, dried rosemary, salt, and ground black pepper. Toss to combine evenly.

Step 5

Slowly pour the chicken or vegetable broth over the bread mixture while gently stirring. The bread should soften slightly but not become overly mushy.

Step 6

In a small bowl, whisk the large eggs, then pour them over the stuffing mixture. Mix gently until everything is well combined, and the mixture holds together when pressed.

Step 7

Using your hands or a scoop, form the mixture into golf ball-sized balls (about 1.5 inches in diameter). You should have around 12 stuffing balls.

Step 8

Arrange the stuffing balls on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each ball.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the stuffing balls are golden brown and crispy on the outside.

Step 10

Remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve warm as an appetizer or alongside your favorite holiday dishes.
