Season the beef chuck roast with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder on all sides.
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat the olive oil. Sear the beef roast on all sides until browned, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
