Ingredients

  • 3 cups puffed rice
  • 0.5 cup peanuts
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 10 leaves curry leaves
  • 0.5 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 small, finely chopped onion
  • 2 chopped green chilies
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons, chopped fresh coriander leaves

Directions

Step 1

Heat a large pan over medium heat and add 2 tablespoons of cooking oil.

Step 2

Once the oil is hot, add 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds and let them crackle.

Step 3

Add around 10 curry leaves and 1/2 cup of peanuts. Stir and sauté until the peanuts turn golden brown.

Step 4

Add 1 small, finely chopped onion and 2 chopped green chilies to the pan. Sauté until the onions are translucent.

Step 5

Sprinkle in 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder and 1/2 teaspoon of red chili powder. Stir the mixture well.

Step 6

Add 3 cups of puffed rice to the pan. Mix well to ensure the puffed rice is well-coated with the spice mixture.

Step 7

Season with 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1/2 teaspoon of sugar to balance the flavors and stir well.

Step 8

Turn off the heat and squeeze the juice of 1 tablespoon of lemon over the puffed rice snack. Mix again to combine.
