Ingredients

  • 113 grams cream cheese, softened
  • 113 grams unsalted butter, softened
  • 190 grams all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoons salt
  • 80 grams pecans, finely chopped
  • 50 grams parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional)

Directions

Step 1

In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy using a hand mixer or spatula.

Step 2

Gradually add the all-purpose flour and salt, mixing until a smooth dough forms.

Step 3

Shape the dough into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to chill.

Step 4

In the meantime, prepare the filling by mixing the chopped pecans, grated parmesan cheese, and fresh rosemary in a small bowl. Set aside.

Step 5

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 6

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the chilled dough into a circle about 1/8 inch thick.

Step 7

Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, divide the circle into 12 equal triangles, like slicing a pizza.

Step 8

Place about 1 teaspoon of the nutty filling at the wider end of each triangle.

Step 9

Roll each triangle tightly from the wide end toward the tip to form crescent shapes.

Step 10

Place the rolled crescents on the prepared baking sheet, with the seam side down to prevent unrolling.

Step 11

Brush the tops with the beaten egg for a golden finish and, if desired, sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds.

Step 12

Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.

Step 13

Allow to cool slightly before serving. These crescents are best enjoyed warm, but they can also be served at room temperature.
