Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry sheet
  • 400 grams mushrooms
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 100 grams cream cheese
  • 50 grams Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon milk

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F).

Step 2

Place the puff pastry sheet on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Using a knife, gently score a border around the pastry edges, about 1 inch from the edge. Be careful not to cut all the way through.

Step 3

In a large frying pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

Step 4

Add the mushrooms to the pan and cook for about 8-10 minutes until they are golden brown and all the liquid has evaporated.

Step 5

Stir in the fresh thyme, salt, and black pepper, and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes. Set aside to cool slightly.

Step 6

In a small bowl, mix the cream cheese until smooth, then spread it evenly inside the scored border on the puff pastry.

Step 7

Distribute the cooked mushroom mixture evenly on top of the cream cheese layer within the scored border.

Step 8

Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the mushrooms.

Step 9

In another small bowl, whisk together the egg yolk and milk to make an egg wash. Brush this mixture around the border of the pastry to help it achieve a golden color.

Step 10

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the pastry is golden and puffed up.

Step 11

Remove the tart from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Slice and serve warm or at room temperature.
