Ingredients

  • 500 grams All-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Instant yeast
  • 50 grams Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 250 milliliters Milk
  • 50 grams Butter
  • 300 grams Ground beef or pork
  • 1 medium Onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Oyster sauce
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons Water

Directions

Step 1

In a small saucepan, melt the butter and add the milk. Heat until lukewarm.

Step 2

In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, instant yeast, and salt.

Step 3

Pour the lukewarm milk and butter mixture into the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.

Step 4

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Step 5

Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Step 6

While the dough is rising, prepare the filling. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.

Step 7

Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pan, sauté for 2-3 minutes until soft and fragrant.

Step 8

Add ground beef or pork and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.

Step 9

Stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce, and black pepper. Cook for another 2 minutes, then remove from heat and let the filling cool.

Step 10

After dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 16 equal parts.

Step 11

Roll each dough piece into a ball and flatten into a disc.

Step 12

Place a tablespoon of the meat filling in the center of each disc.

Step 13

Gather the edges of the dough around the filling and pinch to seal, forming a bun. Place sealed side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Step 14

Cover the buns with a damp cloth and let them rest for 15-20 minutes.

Step 15

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Beat the egg with 2 tablespoons of water to make an egg wash.

Step 16

Brush each bun with the egg wash.

Step 17

Bake the buns in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.

Step 18

Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving.
