Ingredients

  • 500 grams ground duck meat
  • 2 pieces green onions, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 large egg
  • 50 grams panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 pieces burger buns
  • 4 leaves lettuce leaves
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • 1 medium red onion, sliced

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground duck meat, green onions, garlic, soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of hoisin sauce, grated ginger, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.

Step 2

Add the egg and panko breadcrumbs to the meat mixture. Mix gently until the ingredients are evenly distributed, being careful not to overwork the mixture.

Step 3

Divide the duck mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, approximately 1.5 cm thick.

Step 4

Heat olive oil in a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat.

Step 5

Cook the duck patties in the skillet for about 5-6 minutes per side or until they are cooked through and have a nice sear.

Step 6

In the last minute of cooking, brush each patty with the remaining hoisin sauce.

Step 7

Lightly toast the burger buns in the oven or on a grill.

Step 8

Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by the hoisin-brushed duck patty.

Step 9

Top each patty with sliced tomato and red onion.

Step 10

Finish by placing the top halves of the buns over the onion slices.

Step 11

Serve the duck burgers immediately with your favorite side dish.
