Ingredients

  • 1 lb White fish (such as cod, tilapia, or halibut)
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 3 tbsp Lime juice
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Ground cumin
  • 1 tsp Chili powder
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 8 pieces Corn tortillas
  • 0.25 cup Cilantro, chopped
  • 1 cup Red cabbage, shredded
  • 1 piece Avocado, sliced
  • 0.5 cup Sour cream
  • 1 tsp Hot sauce
  • 1 piece Lime wedges, for serving

Directions

Step 1

Preheat a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 2

Pat the white fish dry with a paper towel and cut it into 2-3 inch pieces for even cooking.

Step 3

In a small bowl, combine olive oil, lime juice, garlic powder, ground cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper.

Step 4

Brush or rub the seasoning mixture generously onto both sides of the fish.

Step 5

Add the seasoned fish to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the fish is opaque, flakes easily with a fork, and is lightly golden. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 6

Warm the corn tortillas in the same skillet or directly over a gas flame until soft and lightly charred, about 10-15 seconds per side.

Step 7

In a small bowl, prepare a quick sauce by mixing sour cream and hot sauce. Adjust hot sauce to taste.

Step 8

Assemble the tacos by placing pieces of cooked fish onto each tortilla.

Step 9

Top with shredded red cabbage, sliced avocado, and a sprinkle of chopped cilantro.

Step 10

Drizzle each taco with the prepared sour cream sauce.

Step 11

Serve immediately with lime wedges on the side for an extra burst of citrus flavor.
