Ingredients

  • 2 pounds beef sirloin tips
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large, sliced yellow onion
  • 3 cloves, minced garlic
  • 8 ounces, sliced mushrooms
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 0.25 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons, chopped fresh parsley

Directions

Step 1

Season the beef tips with salt and pepper evenly.

Step 2

In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the beef in batches to avoid overcrowding, and sear until browned on all sides. Remove and set aside.

Step 3

In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and cook for about 5 minutes until they start to soften.

Step 4

Add the minced garlic and cook for another 1 minute until fragrant.

Step 5

Stir in the mushrooms and cook for an additional 5 minutes until they begin to soften.

Step 6

Return the beef tips to the skillet. Pour in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce. Stir to combine.

Step 7

Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Cover the skillet and reduce the heat to low. Let it simmer for 30 minutes or until the beef is tender.

Step 8

In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Add the slurry to the skillet and stir well to thicken the sauce.

Step 9

Simmer for another 5 minutes until the sauce has thickened. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.

Step 10

Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.

Step 11

Serve hot over rice, mashed potatoes, or egg noodles.
