  • 60 ml soy sauce
  • 30 ml dark soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 60 ml water
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Thinly slice the beef across the grain into strips approximately 1cm wide.

Step 2

In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, dark soy sauce, brown sugar, and cornstarch with water. Mix until the cornstarch is fully dissolved. Set aside.

Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.

Step 4

Add minced garlic and grated ginger, stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Step 5

Add beef strips to the skillet and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until browned but not completely cooked through.

Step 6

Pour the soy sauce mixture over the beef, stirring constantly until the sauce begins to thicken and the beef is cooked to your preferred doneness, approximately 4-5 minutes.

Step 7

Mix in sliced green onions, sesame oil, and black pepper, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes.

Step 8

Remove from heat and serve immediately over a bed of steamed rice or cooked noodles.
