Ingredients

  • 500 grams Green beans
  • 1 large Red onion
  • 2 pieces Garlic cloves
  • 2 tablespoons Extra virgin olive oil
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons Black pepper
  • 60 milliliters Water

Directions

Step 1

Wash the green beans thoroughly and trim the ends. Set aside.

Step 2

Peel and slice the red onion into thin strips.

Step 3

Mince the garlic cloves finely.

Step 4

Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil.

Step 5

Once the oil is hot, add the sliced red onions. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until the onions begin to soften and caramelize slightly.

Step 6

Add the minced garlic to the skillet and stir for an additional 30 seconds, being careful not to burn the garlic.

Step 7

Add the green beans to the skillet and toss to combine with the onions and garlic.

Step 8

Pour the water into the skillet, cover with a lid, and allow the beans to steam for 5-6 minutes until they are bright green and tender but still crisp.

Step 9

Remove the lid, season with salt and black pepper, and stir well.

Step 10

Continue cooking for another 2-3 minutes, letting the excess water evaporate and the green beans develop a slight sear.

Step 11

Remove from heat and serve warm as a side dish.
