Ingredients

  • 1 bunch Swiss chard
  • 2 tablespoons Extra virgin olive oil
  • 4 cloves Garlic cloves
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons Black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoons Red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the Swiss chard thoroughly to remove any dirt. Separate the stems from the leaves. Chop the stems into 1/2-inch pieces and roughly chop the leaves.

Step 2

Peel and thinly slice the garlic cloves.

Step 3

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Step 4

Add the garlic slices to the skillet and sauté for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant and just beginning to turn golden.

Step 5

Stir in the chopped Swiss chard stems and cook for 2-3 minutes, until they start to soften.

Step 6

Add the Swiss chard leaves to the skillet in batches if necessary, cooking each batch for 1-2 minutes until wilted before adding more.

Step 7

Season the chard with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir well to evenly coat the greens with the seasoning.

Step 8

Cook the chard for another 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the stems are tender and the leaves are fully wilted.

Step 9

Remove the skillet from heat and drizzle the lemon juice over the cooked chard. Toss gently to combine.

Step 10

Serve immediately as a side dish, garnished with an extra pinch of red pepper flakes if desired.
