Ingredients

  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 10 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 cups day-old bread, cubed
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon butter or cooking spray

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.

Step 2

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned and fully cooked, breaking it into crumbles as it cooks. Drain excess fat and set the sausage aside to cool slightly.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder until fully combined.

Step 4

Add the cubed bread to the egg mixture and stir gently to coat the bread evenly. Let the bread soak for 5 minutes.

Step 5

Stir in the cooked sausage and 1 1/2 cups of the shredded cheddar cheese, reserving 1/2 cup of cheese for topping.

Step 6

Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of cheese on top.

Step 7

Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the egg is set in the center and the top is golden brown.

Step 8

Remove the dish from the oven and let it cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy!
