Ingredients

  • 6 pieces sausages
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 pieces garlic cloves
  • 400 grams baked beans
  • 400 grams chopped tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 medium potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 100 grams grated cheddar cheese

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F).

Step 2

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the sausages and cook until browned on all sides (about 5-7 minutes). Remove and set aside.

Step 3

In the same pan, add the remaining olive oil. Cook the onion (thinly sliced) until softened (about 5 minutes). Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute.

Step 4

Stir in the baked beans, chopped tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, dried thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Step 5

Slice the cooked sausages into bite-sized pieces and stir them into the baked bean mixture. Remove from heat.

Step 6

Thinly slice the potatoes into rounds, about 3-4 mm thick.

Step 7

In a greased baking dish, pour the sausage and baked bean mixture, spreading it out evenly.

Step 8

Arrange the potato slices on top, overlapping slightly to create a layered effect.

Step 9

Lightly brush or spray the top layer of potatoes with olive oil and sprinkle with a pinch of salt and black pepper.

Step 10

Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.

Step 11

Remove the foil, sprinkle the grated cheddar cheese on top, and return to the oven. Bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the potatoes are golden and tender, and the cheese is bubbling.

Step 12

Remove from the oven and let it stand for 5 minutes before serving. Serve hot and enjoy your hearty Sausage Baked Bean and Potato Hotpot!
