Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground breakfast sausage (pork or spicy sausage)
  • 16 ounces Cream cheese
  • 10 ounces Diced tomatoes with green chilies (such as Rotel), drained
  • 0.5 teaspoon Garlic powder (optional)
  • 0.5 teaspoon Onion powder (optional)
  • 0 as needed Crackers, tortilla chips, or veggie sticks (for serving)

Directions

Step 1

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground sausage, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon or spatula as it browns. Continue cooking until the sausage is evenly browned and fully cooked through (about 8-10 minutes).

Step 2

Once the sausage is cooked, drain any excess grease from the skillet and reduce the heat to low.

Step 3

Add the cream cheese to the skillet, breaking it into smaller chunks to help it melt evenly. Stir constantly until the cream cheese is fully melted and combined with the sausage.

Step 4

Stir in the drained diced tomatoes with green chilies. Mix well to ensure the tomatoes are evenly distributed throughout the dip.

Step 5

If desired, add garlic powder and onion powder for extra seasoning. Stir to combine and taste to adjust seasoning as needed.

Step 6

Allow the dip to warm through for about 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

Step 7

Transfer to a serving bowl or a slow cooker set to the 'warm' setting to keep the dip hot. Serve immediately with crackers, tortilla chips, or veggie sticks for dipping.
