Ingredients

  • 500 grams beef sirloin or flank steak
  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce

  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 0.5 cup water or beef stock
  • 1 medium red bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 stalks green onions, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon white sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Thinly slice the beef sirloin or flank steak against the grain into strips about 1/4 inch thick.

Step 2

In a medium bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and 2 tablespoons of cornstarch. Add the beef strips to the mixture, toss to coat evenly, and set aside to marinate for 10 minutes.

Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the beef strips in batches, searing them until browned but not fully cooked (about 2-3 minutes per batch). Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
