Ingredients

  • 2 sheets puff pastry sheets
  • 200 grams cooked chicken breast, shredded
  • 1 medium carrot, grated
  • 2 stalks spring onions, sliced thinly
  • 150 grams satay sauce
  • 100 grams cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.

Step 2

Lay the puff pastry sheets on a clean surface and allow them to thaw if frozen.

Step 3

In a medium bowl, mix the shredded chicken, grated carrot, spring onions, and satay sauce until evenly combined.

Step 4

Spread the chicken and satay mixture evenly over each puff pastry sheet, leaving a 1 cm border around the edges.

Step 5

Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the filling.

Step 6

Starting from one edge, tightly roll the puff pastry sheet into a log shape. Use the border to seal the edge by pressing firmly.

Step 7

Using a sharp knife, slice each roll into 6 even pieces to make scrolls.

Step 8

Place the scrolls cut-side up on the prepared baking tray, leaving space between each piece for expansion.

Step 9

Brush the tops of the scrolls with the beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds if using.

Step 10

Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes or until the scrolls are golden brown and puffed.

Step 11

Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. These are best enjoyed warm but can also be served at room temperature.
