Ingredients

  • 500 grams Beef sirloin
  • 3 pieces Garlic cloves
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger
  • 3 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Ground coriander
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cumin
  • 200 milliliters Coconut milk
  • 4 tablespoons Natural peanut butter
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon Honey
  • 0.5 teaspoon Crushed red chili flakes
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 10 pieces Wooden skewers

Directions

Step 1

Place wooden skewers in water to soak for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning during grilling.

Step 2

Slice the beef sirloin into thin strips, approximately 1-inch wide and 4-5 inches long.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, combine garlic (finely minced), ginger (grated), soy sauce, brown sugar, ground coriander, ground turmeric, ground cumin, and 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Mix well to create the marinade.

Step 4

Add the beef strips to the marinade and toss to coat thoroughly. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.

Step 5

While the beef marinates, prepare the peanut sauce. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine coconut milk, peanut butter, fresh lime juice, honey, crushed red chili flakes, and a pinch of salt. Whisk continuously until the sauce is smooth and slightly thickened, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 6

Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Lightly brush with the remaining vegetable oil to prevent sticking.

Step 7

Thread the marinated beef strips onto the soaked wooden skewers, folding the meat if necessary to fit.

Step 8

Grill the skewers for 2-3 minutes per side, or until the beef is cooked through and slightly charred around the edges.

Step 9

Serve the beef satay hot, accompanied by the warm peanut sauce for dipping. Garnish with chopped cilantro and lime wedges, if desired.
