Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds Ground beef
  • 0.5 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 1 large Egg
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.5 cup Yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 8 ounces Cremini mushrooms, sliced
  • 1.5 cups Beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons All-purpose flour
  • 0.25 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon Soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, finely chopped onion, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Step 2

Divide the mixture evenly into 4 portions and shape each portion into an oval patty, about 1-inch thick.

Step 3

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties and sear for 3-4 minutes per side, until browned — they do not need to be fully cooked yet. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.

Step 4

In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter. Once melted, add the sliced cremini mushrooms and sauté for 5-7 minutes, until the mushrooms are golden brown and tender.

Step 5

Sprinkle the flour over the mushrooms and stir well to coat. Cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, to remove the raw flour taste.

Step 6

Slowly pour in the beef broth while stirring to avoid lumps. Add the soy sauce and heavy cream, and stir to combine. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer.

Step 7

Return the Salisbury steak patties to the skillet, nestling them into the mushroom sauce. Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and let simmer for 10-12 minutes, or until the patties are cooked through (internal temperature should reach 160°F).

Step 8

Taste the mushroom sauce and adjust seasoning with additional salt or pepper, if needed.

Step 9

Serve the steaks hot, smothered in the mushroom sauce. Sprinkle with chopped parsley for garnish, if desired. Enjoy!
