Ingredients

  • 750 ml Wine (red, white, or rosé)
  • 2 cups Fruit (whatever's on hand: oranges, apples, berries, etc.)
  • 1 cup Juice (orange, apple, or any fruit juice)
  • 0.5 cup Hard alcohol (optional: brandy, rum, vodka, or liqueur as desired)
  • 2 tablespoons Sweetener (honey, sugar, or maple syrup, to taste)
  • 1 cup Sparkling water or soda (optional, for topping)
  • 2 cups Ice cubes

Directions

Step 1

1. Choose a large pitcher or bowl for your sangria base.

Step 2

2. Wash and chop the fruits you have on hand into bite-sized pieces. Add about 2 cups of fruit to the pitcher.

Step 3

3. Pour in the entire bottle (750 ml) of wine—red, white, or rosé—based on what you prefer or have available.

Step 4

4. Add 1 cup of juice to enhance the fruity flavor. Orange or apple juice works great, but anything you enjoy will work.

Step 5

5. (Optional) Add 0.5 cup of hard alcohol or liqueur for a boozy kick. Brandy, rum, or vodka are great choices, but feel free to experiment.

Step 6

6. Sweeten the mixture to taste using about 2 tablespoons of your preferred sweetener. Stir well to dissolve it.

Step 7

7. Cover and refrigerate the sangria for at least 2 hours (or up to overnight) to allow the flavors to meld together.

Step 8

8. Just before serving, add 1 cup of sparkling water or soda for some fizz if desired.

Step 9

9. Fill serving glasses with ice cubes and pour the sangria over the ice. Add a piece or two of the soaked fruit to each drink for garnish.

Step 10

10. Serve immediately and enjoy!
