Ingredients

  • 500 grams All-purpose flour
  • 250 milliliters Water
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 500 grams Lamb or beef (minced)
  • 2 medium Onion
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 50 grams Butter
  • 1 whole Egg
  • 2 tablespoons Sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gradually add water while mixing, until a soft dough forms.

Step 2

Knead the dough on a floured surface for 10 minutes until smooth. Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.

Step 3

Meanwhile, finely chop the onions and mix them with minced meat in a separate bowl.

Step 4

Add black pepper, cumin seeds, and a pinch of salt to the meat mixture. Combine well and set aside.

Step 5

Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F).

Step 6

Divide the dough into equal-sized balls, approximately 12. Roll each ball into a thin circle (about 15cm in diameter).

Step 7

Place about 2 tablespoons of the meat mixture in the center of each circle.

Step 8

Fold the edges over the filling to form a triangle or square shape, pinching the edges to seal completely.

Step 9

Melt the butter and lightly brush over the tops of the samsa.

Step 10

Beat the egg and use it to brush over the samsa tops, then sprinkle sesame seeds.

Step 11

Place the samsa on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Step 12

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.

Step 13

Serve hot with your choice of dipping sauce.
