Ingredients

  • 2 sheets Puff pastry sheets
  • 200 grams Salmon fillet
  • 100 grams Cream cheese
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh dill
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon zest
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons Black pepper
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 tablespoon Water

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

If using frozen puff pastry, allow it to thaw according to the package instructions.

Step 3

Cook the salmon fillet in a skillet over medium heat for about 5 minutes on each side, or until the salmon is cooked through. Remove from heat, let it cool slightly, and flake the salmon into small pieces using a fork.

Step 4

In a medium-sized bowl, mix the flaked salmon, cream cheese, chopped fresh dill, lemon zest, salt, and pepper until well combined.

Step 5

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheets to smooth out any creases. Cut each sheet into 6 equal rectangles (you’ll have 12 rectangles in total).

Step 6

Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the salmon mixture onto the center of six of the pastry rectangles, leaving a small border around the edges.

Step 7

In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water to make an egg wash. Brush the edges of the pastry rectangles with the egg wash.

Step 8

Place the remaining six pastry rectangles over the salmon mixture. Press the edges together to seal, and then use the tines of a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch.

Step 9

Transfer the salmon puffs to the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops of the puffs with the remaining egg wash to ensure a golden, shiny finish.

Step 10

Using a sharp knife, make two small slits on the top of each puff to allow steam to escape while baking.

Step 11

Bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown and puffy.

Step 12

Remove the salmon puffs from the oven and let them cool for 5 minutes before serving. Serve warm or at room temperature, garnished with extra dill if desired.
