Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and set it aside.
While the pasta is cooking, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Season the salmon fillet with a pinch of salt and pepper, then cook it skin-side down for about 3-4 minutes. Flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through.
