Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground beef
  • 0.5 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 0.25 cup Milk
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 1 Yellow onion
  • 8 ounces Mushrooms
  • 1.5 cups Beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon Water
  • 12 ounces Egg noodles
  • 2 tablespoons Parsley

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

Step 2

Form the mixture into 4 oval-shaped patties of equal size.

Step 3

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 4

Sear the patties on both sides until browned, about 3-4 minutes per side, and then remove them from the skillet and set aside.

Step 5

Slice the onion and mushrooms. In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil and the onions. Sauté for 3 minutes until softened.

Step 6

Add the mushrooms to the skillet and cook for an additional 5-6 minutes, until they release their moisture and are golden brown.

Step 7

Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, stirring well to deglaze the pan and incorporate the browned bits from the bottom.

Step 8

In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and water to create a slurry, then stir it into the gravy. Cook for 2-3 minutes or until the gravy thickens.

Step 9

Return the patties to the skillet, spooning some of the gravy over them. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes.

Step 10

Meanwhile, cook the egg noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and toss them with the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter and freshly chopped parsley.

Step 11

Serve the Salisbury steaks alongside the buttered egg noodles, spooning extra gravy over the top before serving.
