Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
Remove the membrane from the back of the spareribs by sliding a knife under it and pulling it off using a paper towel for grip.
In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
Rub the spice mixture evenly over both sides of the spareribs, coating them thoroughly.
Place the ribs on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil, meat side up. Cover the ribs tightly with another sheet of aluminum foil.
Bake the ribs in the preheated oven for 2.5 hours, or until they are tender and the meat easily pulls away from the bone.
While the ribs are baking, prepare the barbecue glaze by whisking together the barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, and honey in a small saucepan. Heat over low heat until well combined, then set aside.
After 2.5 hours in the oven, remove the ribs and carefully discard the top layer of foil. Brush the ribs generously with the barbecue glaze.
Preheat your grill to medium heat (or use your oven's broiler if a grill is unavailable).
Place the ribs on the grill, meat side down, and cook for 5 minutes to caramelize the glaze. Flip the ribs and brush with more glaze; cook for another 5-10 minutes, flipping and glazing as necessary until the ribs are sticky and slightly charred.
Remove the spareribs from the grill and let them rest for 5 minutes before slicing between the bones.
Serve warm with extra barbecue sauce on the side, if desired.
